Travis J. Carlson

Dr. Travis J. Carlson is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Pharmacotherapy Division of the College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin. In addition to his teaching, research, and service responsibilities within the College, he also cares for patients as an infectious diseases pharmacist at University Hospital in San Antonio. Dr. Carlson received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University and completed his PGY-1 Residency at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, followed by a two-year Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas, in conjunction with the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. He is also a Board-Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP). Dr. Carlson has a passion for conducting innovative research and serving the profession of pharmacy. Dr. Carlson has published over 20 peer-reviewed original research and review articles. His areas of interest and expertise include antimicrobial stewardship, Clostridioides difficile infection, antimicrobial resistance, and medication disposal. He also serves as the Chair of the Public Outreach Committee for the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP), and he regularly contributes continuing education materials to both ASHP and ACCP.

Emily Frederick

Dr. Emily Frederick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in Winchester, Virginia and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Geisinger Medical Center in central Pennsylvania. Dr. Frederick is an associate professor and Vice Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Department and has a clinical practice site with the Emergency Department Hospitalist Team at the University of Louisville Hospital. Dr. Frederick is active in local and national professional organizations and serves on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In her free time, Dr. Frederick enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, baking, and evaluating literature.

Andrew Gainey

Andrew B. Gainey, PharmD, AAHIVP, BCIDP, is a pediatric infectious disease clinical pharmacy subspecialist at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Midlands in Columbia, South Carolina. He also serves as the PGY2 Residency Program Director at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital - Midlands and is a clinical assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy. He completed a PGY1 at Prisma Health Richland and completed a pediatric infectious disease-focused PGY2 at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Midlands. His main research interests include nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung infections, antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, recurrent urinary tract infections, infections with Achromobacter species, pulmonary infections in patients with cystic fibrosis, and phage therapy.

Katherine Gruenberg

Katherine Gruenberg, PharmD, MA, BCPS, BCIDP, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Pharmacy and an Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist at UCSF Medical Center. Dr. Gruenberg completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at UCSF School of Pharmacy, followed by a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a PGY2 residency specializing in infectious diseases and education at UCSF. Dr. Gruenberg also obtained a Master’s of Arts in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Gruenberg directs the infectious diseases skills course in the UCSF PharmD curriculum and has published several articles in the scholarship of teaching and learning, with an emphasis on infectious diseases education.

Larissa Hacker

Larissa Hacker is a dedicated clinical pharmacist specializing in pediatrics and infectious diseases. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2021. Her passion for infectious diseases and pediatrics led her to pursue postgraduate training, completing a PGY1 residency followed by an Infectious Diseases PGY2 residency at UW Health from 2021 to 2023. With a strong foundation in pharmacy practice and a focus on improving patient outcomes, Larissa continues to contribute to the field through clinical practice, research, and education. She now works at UW Health both as a pediatric and Infectious diseases clinical pharmacist.

Julie Harting

Julie Harting, PharmD, BCIDP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Sullivan University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (Infectious Disease) at University Hospital, both in Louisville, KY. She completed her Infectious Disease PGY2 residency training in 2009, Making a Difference in Infectious Disease (MAD-ID) Antimicrobial Stewardship Certification in 2010. In the clinical setting, she manages pharmacotherapy for infectious disease consult patients and attends daily multidisciplinary rounds. She also supports the health system antimicrobial stewardship efforts including contributions to the SubCommittee for Antimicrobial Stewardship. In the academic setting, she is responsible for course coordination and didactic infectious disease lecture content to both the doctor of pharmacy and physicians assistant programs.

David Koren

David E. Koren, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, AAHIVP, FIDSA, is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist for the Temple University Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor for both the School of Pharmacy and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and faculty for the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Centers. Dr. Koren received both his Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters in Public Health from Temple University and completed post-graduate Pharmacy Practice and Infectious Diseases residencies at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Koren is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a credentialed HIV Pharmacist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine. His clinical interests include innovative models for pharmacist delivery of care as well as the prevention, treatment, and management of HIV and Hepatitis C. Dr. Koren has presented viral infection-related research abstracts at the regional, national, and international level and has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He serves on national committees for both the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the HIV Medicine Association and was named a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Jerika Lam

Dr. Jerika Lam received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Los Angeles and the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 residency at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and a two-year fellowship in HIV translational research at USC School of Pharmacy. She is an Associate Professor at Chapman University School of Pharmacy. She currently practices as a faculty-in-residence at an Infectious Diseases clinic with the AltaMed Medical Group in Anaheim, California. She is licensed as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist in California and credentialed by the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). Dr. Lam is Fellow of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP). She has served as a Board of Director for CSHP and its Foundation on Research and Education. Furthermore, she has served on the International Pharmaceutical Federation Policy Committee on Patient Safety, was the co-chair of the Medication Safety Committee at the Patient Safety Movement Foundation, and a current member on the National Patient Safety Board Advocacy Coalition. She also serves on the Patient Safety Movement Foundation Advisory Board. Dr. Lam is a member of the ASHP Faculty Advisory Panel, ASHP Council on Therapeutics, and the AAHIVM Exam Writers’ Panel. She has given presentations and authored several book chapters and journal articles on the topics about HIV, HCV, pharmacogenomics, and patient safety. She is the senior editor and author of a textbook called Pharmacogenomics: A Primer for Clinicians. Dr. Lam has received intramural and external grant funding for HIV, translational, and educational research.

Nicholas O'Donnell

John Nicholas O'Donnell, PharmD, MSc, is an Associate Professor at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, New York. Natasha Pettit

Natasha N. Pettit, PharmD, BCIDP, is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist practicing at the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) since 2010. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific and completed her residency training at the University of Michigan. Her current roles include Pharmacy Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Services. Dr. Pettit has several research interests including: evaluating the use of the EHR in implementing stewardship interventions, infection management in the immune-compromised host, and treatment strategies for Clostridiodes difficile infections. She also provides education on antimicrobial management and stewardship practices through her involvement in the training of pharmacy/medical students and residents, Infectious Diseases fellows, and serving as a faculty member for the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Program for Pharmacists and for the American Society for Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) board certification review course.

Dr. Wei is a clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases at Parkland Health in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas and completed her PGY1 residency at CHI St. Luke's Health and ID PGY2 at Houston Methodist in Houston, Texas. In her current practice, she rotates between the ID consult rounding service, antimicrobial stewardship, and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy transitions of care service. Dr. Wei’s specific interests are in utilization of data mining models and technology to improve antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and teaching. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and provides lectures to physician assistant students and training ID fellows. She is a member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.
